If you were sent a waiver to sign
Hosts who use Simple Waivers share their waiver one of three ways: a link, a QR code, or a short event code. Any of them opens the same form. You do not need an account, a password or an app.
- Open the waiver. Tap the link in the text or email, or scan the QR code with your phone camera. If you were given an event code instead, go to Complete a Waiver and type the code in.
- Read the release. It names the activity and the organizer, and explains the risks you are accepting. Read it before you sign, the same as you would on paper.
- Enter your details. Your name and contact information.
- Signing for a child? Choose the option for a minor participant. You will add the parent or guardian's name and sign a second time as guardian.
- Draw your signature with your finger, a stylus or a mouse, and submit. Signing confirms that you intend to sign electronically.
That is the whole process. The host sees your signed waiver in their dashboard right away, so there is nothing to print or bring with you.
Can't find your waiver? Ask the host for the link or event code. Simple Waivers does not list events publicly, so the only way in is through the person who invited you.
How to get waivers signed online

Step 1: Create an event

Every event gets its own link, event code and QR code. Text the link, put it in a confirmation email or booking message, or print the QR code and tape it by the entrance. Guests can sign days ahead or in the parking lot.
Step 3: Guests sign on their own phones
Guests open the waiver in a web browser on most phones, tablets and laptops, sign with a finger, and submit. Nobody creates an account. Parents sign for minors as guardians.
Step 4: See who has signed
Signed waivers show up in your dashboard as they come in. Download a PDF of any waiver, and turn on check-in mode to mark people as they arrive. Records stay available in your dashboard for up to 18 months, so download anything you need to keep longer.

What gets recorded when someone signs
A signature on its own proves little. What matters is being able to show who signed, what they agreed to, and when. Each waiver signed through Simple Waivers stores:
- The exact text the signer saw, including any terms you added for that event.
- The signature itself, plus a separate guardian signature for a minor.
- The date and time of signing.
- The signer's IP address and device details, such as browser and operating system.
- A tamper-evident fingerprint of the signed record, taken at the moment of signing, so any later change to the waiver can be detected.

Is a waiver signed online legally binding?
In the United States, the federal ESIGN Act and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, adopted by most states, give an electronic signature the same legal effect as ink when the signer intends to sign electronically. That is why the signing form states, right at the signature, that signing means you intend to sign electronically.
Whether any particular waiver holds up is a separate question. It depends on how clearly the waiver is written, the activity, and your state's law, not on whether it was signed on paper or on a screen.
